Abstract

Teaching, conducting original research, and making meaningful contributions to one's local

community or society are all essential components of a successful academic career. The primary

purpose of this research is to analyse how academic staff in Ekiti State's higher education

institutions feel about the quality of their work-life balance with their organisational

commitment. Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State University (EKSU), and Afe

Babalola University were among the institutions in Ekiti State that were included in the study

(ABUAD). A well-structured questionnaire was employed in the study, adapted from earlier

studies, and 168 lecturers and management staff was selected using a purposive sampling

method. Except for the physical working environment and pay and benefits, where the link is

negative and insignificant, the results of this study show that the QWL dimension is favourably

associated with organisational commitment. This study found that Nigerian academic staff

endured a great deal to keep work and family roles going successfully despite the perceived

inadequacy of QWL.
